MuskoonThe Perfume and Attar House That Brings You Back to the Moment
Not another notification. A scent that pulls you back.
Muskoon is a perfume and attar house in Ahmedabad, India, founded on 11 October 2024. We formulate our own fragrances around heritage ingredients referenced in the Quran, Sunnah, and Islamic tradition. Every formula is phthalate-free. Each one exists for a single job: to bring you back to the moment you are already in.
- Most fragrances promise to make you unforgettable. We would rather help you remember where you are.
- Most fragrances promise confidence. You do not need a scent to perform who you are.
- Most fragrances lean on heritage. We think authenticity is what you bring to the room you are in.
- Most fragrances sell the hours they last.We care what a scent does while it lasts.
Why Muskoon Exists
Muskoon began with a founder who was present everywhere except the moment he was in.
In 2024, I was running four businesses at once. Muskoon was one of them. I handled its marketing and finance. My partners covered vendors, formulation, logistics, and customer support.
Muskoon started by following the dupe trend. Some early customers told us our versions outperformed the originals. A copy of someone else's idea still has a ceiling built into it. I asked our partners to build a scent profile of our own. They wanted to stay with dupes. I started teaching myself formulation, on top of everything else.
None of it compounded. At dinner with my family, I was drafting email replies in my head. At work, I was thinking about the weekend. I was spread so thin that I was absent from the people in front of me.
Then a line from Ahmad Zarruq, the fifteenth-century Moroccan scholar, stopped me. Wisdom, he taught, is knowing what this moment wants of you. I stopped running four businesses and kept one. I kept perfume, because customers had already told me something real was working.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ compared a good companion to a musk seller. From the musk seller, "you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell" (Sahih al-Bukhari 2101; Sahih Muslim 2628). The hadith is about the company we keep. I read it as a question for Muskoon. What kind of companion should a fragrance be? My answer is one that brings you back to the people you are with.
In 2026, we rebuilt Muskoon around that answer.

What We Believe Fragrance Is For
We believe fragrance should bring you back to the moment you are already in. Most of the category sells projection: how you will be seen, remembered, or complimented. Muskoon is built for presence, meaning what you bring to the room you are standing in. Our real competitor is not another perfume house. It is scattered attention.
Our customers are people whose minds are somewhere else, even when it matters most that they are here. That moment might be salah, zikr, dinner with family, or a friend's hard day. Many have tried calendars, to-do lists, and meditation apps. None of those touched the problem, because it was never a scheduling problem.
Return, Sukoon, and Barakah
Every Muskoon fragrance is built around three stages: Return, Sukoon, and Barakah.
-
Return
Return is the moment you catch the scent and catch yourself. You are in one room, and your mind is in another. The scent reaches you, and you notice where you have drifted.
-
Sukoon
Sukoon is the Urdu and Arabic word for tranquillity, and it sits inside our name. It is what follows the return. You settle, and you become receptive to the person in front of you.
-
Barakah
Barakah is the blessing that continues after a moment ends. The meeting finishes and the dinner ends, yet their good carries forward. It is the reason we formulate for staying power, not for a number on a label.
How We Formulate
Every Muskoon fragrance is our own formula, and each formulation decision came with a cost we chose to pay. We make perfumes and attars. An attar is a concentrated perfume oil, dabbed onto the skin rather than sprayed.
Original Formulation Over Convenience
We refused a pre-formulated, marketplace-ready line, and two co-founders left over that decision. It was the faster path to launch. Every fragrance we sell today starts from our own formulation.
Function First, Scent Second
Most fragrances start from how they smell, and ours start from what the ingredients mean. Some of those ingredients have little scent of their own. We build the supporting notes around them.
Phthalate-Free by Refusal
Every Muskoon formula is phthalate-free. Phthalates are chemical compounds, such as diethyl phthalate, that can extend how long a scent lasts. They offered us a cheap shortcut to longer wear. We refused them because of concerns about phthalate exposure.
Synthetic Fixatives, Kept on Purpose
We use selected synthetic fixatives, and we tell you so. A fixative is a material that slows how fast a fragrance evaporates. Our fully natural test formulas faded within one to two hours. The fixatives give the meaning in each ingredient time to land. Our formulas combine natural materials, plant extracts, and synthetics. Fully natural is a formulation choice. Phthalate-free is a line we will not cross.
The Heritage Behind Our Ingredients
Oud, musk, luban, kalonji, saffron, and camphor.
These are our heritage ingredients. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ called musk the best of scents (Sahih Muslim 2252). He never turned down a gift of perfume (Sahih al-Bukhari 2582). The Quran names kafur, or camphor, in its description of Paradise (Surah al-Insan 76:5). Kalonji carries the name Habbat al-Barakah, the Blessed Seed.
We chose these ingredients because the tradition treats them as meaningful, not because they trend. Not every material in our formulas comes from the tradition. Our fixatives, for example, are modern synthetics. Each heritage ingredient has its own page in our notes library.
What Customers Tell Us
Customers rate Muskoon 4.7 out of 5, and half of our orders are repeat orders. Many customers come back to buy testers of scents they have not tried yet.
We share customer experiences as testimony, in their own words, not as promises about what a fragrance can do.
Read customer reviewsA customer under constant pressure told us the scent works like a check-in. It is a moment in a stressful day where he catches himself, refocuses, and makes a clearer call.
The People Behind Muskoon
Muskoon is run by a team of three in Ahmedabad.

Shahid leads Muskoon's brand, marketing, and formulation direction.

Maaz runs daily operations and looks after customers, from order questions to how to wear an attar.

Saad sources the materials behind every formula, from heritage ingredients to packaging.
Where Muskoon Is Going
We are building toward a world where achievement does not quietly cost people the moments they built it for.
Presence does not arrive once life slows down. It has to be guarded, the way you guard your time, money, or energy.
A scent cannot do that guarding for you. It can be the one honest interruption in a day that has none.
A fragrance given from one person to another travels further than one bought to impress. That is barakah moving forward, and it is the future we are building Muskoon for.
